Growing up in a big family has always led me to compete in the limelight.
I began my interest into Music and Acting when I was in school, starring lead roles in productions such as Blood Brothers, Bugsy Malone, Grease and West Side Story. These experiences set me up for a thirst for the stage.
With the support of a good friend Craig Brayshaw who helped me progress into theatre, I hit the stage with Bolton Premiere productions ‘Slice of Saturday night’ where I played one of the lead roles, Rick.
From then on I progressed my stage ability with the help of Stage Director Marge Brayshaw, starring in Jesus Christ Superstar and Red Hot Swing.
Red Hot Swing was a great experience, performing the songs that I love most with an amazing 16-piece swing band. The show gained brilliant response at the Albert Halls and was re -staged at the Middleton theatre two years later with Pados and then back to the Albert halls.
Myself and another cast member Simon Flecture decided to form a band after the show called All That Swing. Over the last two years we have performed all over the UK at various functions such as; Weddings, Birthday’s, Casino nights and even Christmas parties. We have also sung for corporate functions, the best to date was for Manchester City football club.
This year I was also involved in a big corporate promotion event and I got chance to sing at the Royal Opera house for Bupa’s One life.
My biggest inspiration comes from my Father the Soul and Motown Singer, ‘Dave Gee’. He has always believed in me and helped me to perform as successful as he does. Thanks Dad.
Some people ask why I like this old music. I believe the music isn’t old and Jazz and Swing will always be around.
I think this sort of music really tells a story – whether it be a story of love or a story of tears. I have watched footage and grown up listening to recordings of all the greats. The likes of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Sammy and who can’t forget, Bing Crosby. All the stories I heard in the songs really touched something inside of me and right now – I’m hooked.
I love the music and hope to help keep it going forever.
