Area-D began life as a simple jamming band in local pubs, originally formed in 1999 by Barrie and Mark, with Steven joining in 2004.
The boys entered the X-Factor in 2005 at the time they were yet to pick a name for the band, but after progressing through the earliest stages of the competition, they were told that they would have to think up a name before they could go in-front of Simon, Sharon and Luis. With nothing in mind, and time running out,
This background gave Area-D a perfect stage for acoustic performance as was found out by the owner of a small venue in Astley, when the whole town suffered a power cut and the boys in mid-set! They were told that they could finish for the night with full pay as the power more than likely wouldn’t return until the morning, but the band had other ideas and promptly finished off the night on acoustic guitars by candlelight!
After a few more gigs, the boys felt that they needed to widen their set list to be able to cater for weddings and larger functions, so most sets these days are performed with backing tracks and guitars.
Professionally performed, using some of the best equipment on the market, Area-D offer a vast range of musical styles and can cater for all kinds of functions…
From laid back acoustic performance to ease your guests into the evening, maybe a bit of swing music to get Grandad’s feet kicking, throw in some good old Motown classics, some party favourites before finishing the night off with some classic and up-to-date indie music – Whatever your taste in music, Area-D cover it all.
